GS8208 12V pixel strings - A wildcard third option for the 5V vs 12V WS2811 question?

Agreed. Fortunately the epoxy seems acceptable from the strings I have checked so far.

In saying that, last year (with the longer bullets) I spotted four single pixels (spread across 3 different strings) with insufficient epoxy. These strings weren't deployed. Upon notifying Shiji of this problem they remade the problem strings for free (and sent with my next order to save on shipping).

It's surprisingly hard to find 8208 pixels; so many sellers just list the "2811" and I suspect they are trying to say "2811 compatible."

The NBG dome style on Alibaba, they can't be the actual resistor based 2811's can they? I would imagine they would be 2815 or 8208, but I can't seem to find it on any spec sheet anywhere.

I've purchased both bullets and square GS8208 pixels from Shiji in the past and again this season - https://www.shiji-leds.com/

If you want GS8208 and they aren't listed at Shiji or another vendor, try asking - they may be able to accommodate.

I was dealing with Sophia.

That is entirely true. Other than Ali / manufacturer direct as others have mentioned, the only place for US-based stock seems to be YPS. https://yourpixelstore.com/product/new-yps-duo-pixel-12v/

I run a few thousand of the duos. There are reasons 8208 haven't really taken off, despite technical merits.

All of these little 12V pixels like the ones in your image have the power efficiency of the 8208s also (and generally use less current, so have much lower peak power usage). They're not based on discrete chips (WS2811, GS8208) on PCBs, they're based on little LED modules that are soldered directly to the wires. They're wonderful in the cases where you can use them (HDPEs, tree strips), but mixed results in coros. You can get just about anything on Ali, but there are several US vendors stocking a variety of these domes if you need them in a hurry. (Scott, Yvette, Wally's lights, etc.).
