I see no issue with this, but would like to see what others think
The basis of most group buys has been for buying electronics or parts for boards, these have prices that vary greatly with the more you order but you still can order small amounts if there was only a little interest but the cost will be higher because those price breaks never got met.
In this situation there is a minimum order quantity of 200 before the factory will deal with you, so its not about getting to price breaks to reduce the cost but instead its about getting enough to make the MOQ because without the MOQ then there is no group buy
So both situations are very different and the rules are written more towards the purchasing of electronics where you can buy 1 off but at a much higher cost than if you bought 1000 as part of a group buy. The more involved in a group buy the higher the price break and its not uncommon for the original quoted price to actually go down if interest is large enough, thats what happened when i did a group buy a few years back on the strobes..
If 200 tubes were were requested by members then there is no need for Michael to buy extras unless he wants extras for onselling later, which is his own decision to make as it is his financial investment. The group buy still gets done as per the rules and if there were any damaged tubes he would have enough to cover that which is what the rule specifies 'keep reasonable spares' which means that a member who was part of a group buy needs a replacement then its offered at the price the group buy was at because that would be covered by the resonable spares, but for tubes then there is not too much that can be wrong unless the buyer damages it when bending and then a replacement cost would be at the discretion of the organiser because the tube was damaged by the member and not from anything outside of his control
I dont think the rules need to be changed to much, I just think there needs to be a bit more clarification on what reasonable spares means. That is my 5cents worth on how i view it and im sure there are others that dont agree.
