I come from an IT background. For my Falcon F48 setup I am considering connecting the 16 differential output ports to a 19" patch panel. Then I can have all the electronics (Falcon F48, Fan, Power Supply etc) in a waterproof box up out of the way (or concealed in a 4RU wall mound cabinet), and I can have the patch panel in a more accessible area to run ethernet cabling out to the receiver boards.

Is there any reason not to do this?

I'd be concerned that the punch down terminals would corrode in the scenario you've outlined.

In an enclosure outside I could see the problem with moisture (from having vents). Inside mounted in a rack would be perfectly fine.
If this is going to be outside in an enclosure you might be better off without the patch panel, just have the F48 at the top of the enclosure for easy access.

I like the idea if it's inside in a home network cupboard.
