When the installation finishes and things start happening around the 2 minute mark I was wowed.
http://www.audio-visual-network.com/web_eng/ORBIs-Fly-Winch.html looks to be the manufacturer and there's a pdf datasheet down the bottom. With the tech involved I'd hate to think how expensive these things are. They do look super cool though
Thanks for sharing, it's incredible!
A fantastic effect.
now thats what you call the ultimate matrix

That's amazing. Anyone going to have a crack at this for 2015?
Even a very simple 2D version with 10 RGB balls cycling up and down at slightly different speeds may look cool.
Very cool, I would guess it needs to be inside, as a bit of wind would cause a lot of damage to the balls and cable wrapped together.
Few things would be as painful as having your balls tangled after they are extended 6m
Good luck 8)
But you can do that with some led strips...
Those are both way cool
That is impressive, taking light art to anew level
I wonder how much was spent just on the controlled winches
Just watched a bit of eurovision and saw that these balls are being used, over the audience. Coupled with the lighting of the stage, they really look fantastic. Mostly used when the hosts are talking, not during the acts, though.
Looks really great !
I must say that the Eurovision stage and lighting was one of the most impressive setups ive ever seen, i just watched it for the stage effects more than the crappy music
