im in as well. did i miss the cutoff time? i just saw this thread - how would we pay the shipping if we are not able to pay dmoore?

OC,

Your in by the skin of your teeth.

Box is packed and going out in the morning, Fedex are estimating Friday delivery in the US so fingers crossed.

Now the bad news, due to size and weight (copper is heavy) of nearly 11Kg the Fedex quote for Priority shipping is $364 Aus. Divide that between the 16 people, equals 22.75 each to get from me to the US.
This is still cheaper that any other express shipment.

Please let me confirm that price when i ship it tomorrow, then I'd just ask that people drop some money into the paypal then.

Sorry it was delayed leaving me, but i was glad that i powered up each board and loaded firmware, of the 80+ boards i have checked i have 2 that did not power up and two that needed basic fixes, would have hated to send them out.

Cheers
Phil

I notice that shipping breakdown doesn't take into account whether you ordered cords or not, or how many boards you got; just a straight division. I'm sure that if I'd ordered more boards with cords, I'd be thrilled, but I only ordered 2 bare boards. Can that be figured into it without too much trouble?

$22.75 is a significant shipping cost for just 2 boards.

The total amount sent for those 16 people is $2654
The shipping is $364, giving a "shipping rate" of 14%
My calculation still isn't based on actual weight, just value.

$2,654.00 $364.00 14%

Amnt Paid 14% for shipping
$43.50 $5.97
$261.00 $35.80
$87.00 $11.93
$435.00 $59.66
$130.50 $17.90
$261.00 $35.80
$87.00 $11.93
$74.00 $10.15 * Me now.
$74.00 $10.15
$222.00 $30.45
$87.00 $11.93
$174.00 $23.86
$148.00 $20.30
$87.00 $11.93
$222.00 $30.45
$261.00 $35.80

I'm sure Phil could have shipped them for cheaper, though I don't know if everyone would have liked getting their boards around the first part of December. I'm also pretty sure that ~$28 is WAY cheaper than if had each package been shipped individually, even without cords. Plus I'm sure Phil is busy with lots of other stuff than filling out a dozen customs forms. :)

Plus, the shipping is still WAY cheaper than if you ordered them from LOR. :)

Here is what I'll be doing to get these re-shipped to everyone in a timely manner:

* Once I receive the email addresses and order quanity for each person from Phil, I will send out a paypal request for shipping payment. Orginally I was going to soak up the complete shipping but it's 3x the orginal anticiplated rate, so I'll pass on part of that shipping cost (Au to US and then US to you).

* Please pay the paypal request as quick as possible to prevent delays

* I will use your confirmed paypal address for shipping via USPS Priority mail - please make sure it's the address you want these sent to

* If I receive them Friday (depending on the address they were sent to), they will be packed up and re-shipped Friday so most people would have them by Monday or Tuesday. If they should arrive on Monday, they would ship Tuesday.

It appears that these may not arrive here in the US until Monday (22nd) or Tuesday (23rd), which means that you could expect them to arrive at your house around the 29th or 30th depending on the speed of USPS around the Thanksgiving holiday.

First, thanks to Phil and Dave for making this happen!

Second, since it looks like the paypal invoices have not yet been sent out, and as one who's shipping cost would actually go up based on the calcuations that were done, I would support that method of dividing the costs to be fair to those who did not order cords/did not order much--I suspect any other way to divide the costs besides evenly or by amount spent would involve too much time on Dave's part!

Thanks again--can't wait for my boards!

--now to get my dr4 to play nice with LSP and we'll be all set!

The spreadsheet that Phil posted is not accurate to what was shipped,

Phil if you could get the time could you please update the actual amounts shipped to the US so that we can apportion the shipping costs more accurately.

Anyone who feels they are "out" a few dollars should consider that Phil and Tabor have spent *thousands* of dollars in an effort to produce these boards - a sum that we have not been asked to pay. Plus, there are plenty of others that have invested *lots* hours and effort to making pixels all possible this year.

Remeber that it will all be worth it once the display is up and more amazing than anything else anyone has seen and that a few dollars "lost" won't mean squat for all the great feedback we'll all receive.

An update on the order - I received the resistors today that will be packaged in with the boards. Once I receive the paypal email addresses from Phil, along with information on how to handle the Au to US shipping charges, I will be sending out paypal requests. Based on the last information I got from Phil, they should arrive here on Monday the 22nd, though that is not 100% assured.

Thanks,
David

If my comment was taken as feeling I am "out a few dollars" then I phrased something very wrong. The cost per board and cost for a board and cables is a fantastic deal and I would have paid more. I was commenting only about the disparity in shipping cost per US person. Was I really that unclear?

The total amount mentioned for the shipping total to the US seemed in line with the amount of copper and circuit boards. No problem.

My comment dealt with the division of that amount in an equitable fashion. I got two circuit boards with components. No wires or cables. Others got 10 or more circuit boards with wires and cables. That weighs a lot more than my two boards. A lot more, but the initial post showed that I would pay the same amount for shipping. Didn't seem right then and I haven't changed my mind. I re-read the Bulk Buy rules and it doesn't say one way or the other about dividing shipping costs.

My posted method took me 2 minutes to compute in Excel. This isn't rocket science and surely a lot easier than designing, building and distributing circuit boards. Using either method, Phil would get the same amount that he is certainly due.
