whats the diameter of these tubes compared to the tint tubes we get?
also can your bending process be done with the tint tubes?

love the arch, but your right with the kink in it.. but im sure , you'll perfect it soon
The acrylic tube is 50mm od with 2 mm wall thickness. What are the tint tubes made from. I got the idea or hot sand from bending conduit but that has a higher melting point. Acrylic is good to bend between 130 and 160 and higher and you will do it damage (so I'm told)

Got mine last night, thanks again Michael they look amazing, cant wait to get the bending process started, was nice meeting you finally and will be talking with you at the Syd Mini,
And Roo yes i have your 3 as well, i will message you later to organize maybe stopping in sometime over the weekend, if thats ok with you,
i am still thinking about the bend process on my side... hmmm what to dooo... i was thinking to make these into Candy canes a pipe bender would be good for the sharp bend but no good for the arches... heated sand and a pipe bender.... thoughts.... do i get a few more and make 1m canes... see Michael look what you have done to me....

Candy canes may be a bit hard with the tighter radius. You have to remember when bending one side is in compression and one side is in tension and there will be limits to how tight they will bend. What the limits are?

Steel is more forgiving than acrylic like bending a 2" exhaust on a mandrel bender.

Rather than a candy cane how about an acrylic ball on top like a North Pole giant lollipops. Lollipops I think I've given myself an idea.

My tubes arrived yesterday, the ends got broken during transport (even though there was lots of bubble wrap)
So 2.9mtr lengths now instead of 3mtr

Any change of a how-to bend Michael for those of is not in Sydney ?

Sorry to hear the ends were damaged. I wrapped with lots of bubble wrap.

Will 2.9m be ok? Mine only need to be 2.5m which is half a strip and a little bit more for good luck.

I'm still planning the same bending technique with hot sand and the jig I made above. I bought a $20 IR thermometer off eBay. 130 to 160 is the best temp for bending acrylic.

Just waiting for the glue and builders bog to dry before I test the jig tomorrow.

2.9 will be no problem, still haven't worked out how high I even want my arches :(

Once you get a jig perfected, if you could share the design so I can build one down here ?

Hi,

The tubes look fantastic. I would be interested in purchasing 4 tubes if you still have any available.

If so could you please advise me of pricing and pickup options.

Cheers

Tubes are $30 each
You can either pickup from Claremont meadows or I can organize delivery which would be between $30 and $60 thru smartsend.com.au or you can collect from Sydney mini if you let me know

Hi Michael,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I have decided that I will only need two tubes and it would be great if I could pick them up at the Sydney mini.

See you there.

Cheers
