Have also got a Raspberry Pi now so when the Matrix is built (waiting on brackets) I will start tinkering with it.

Mega Tree strips are mostly done, just need to solder a few connections and add pigtails.
I'm using 5v nodes as I bought them cheap, will be injecting top and bottom.
These strips are 75 nodes at 5cm, so approx. 3.8m long.
