Yes mate there probably is. I will note that down. Would like to keep as many parts SMD where possible though to keep assembly costs down.

I could also use a polyfuse or ditch it alltogether for those wanting height kept at a minimum.
 
Further testing scheduled this coming weekend.
Hopefully I can post some productive results next week.

Are you running into issues with the current firmware? Issues, feature requests, and fixes are always welcome in the open source repository - https://github.com/forkineye/ESPixelStick.
