It's possible to go from DMX to WS-whatever, you would just need a protocol converter for each string/512 universe of pixels. It's not very economical to do this since they run $15-$20 each, but if you can't use E1.31 it's really your only option, though it'd probably be cheaper to replace your entire system and use an e1.31 controller if you're doing anything at scale.

Yes, we've been talking about this all along. "Interface", "Pixel Driver", "Protocol Converter" are all the same thing in this context. Same basic thing under many names just to confuse everyone. :D

Some people have used the cheap ($15 - $20) units, but issues such as lack of a settable start address and general unreliability seemed pretty common.

The only controller I know of that supports those GECE pixels is the E68x series but they have E1.31 input.

You'd be better off buying pixels that can be replaced if needed instead of those GE ones which are domestic ones that may not be around next week let alone next year.
