RGB Floods

So who is taking orders for new laser-cut window fronts?

Bahaha give me another week or 2.. Working on something special.. hahaha

OK so I swapped the wires as described, and I can control this unit via a DMX console, but not via xlights.
i assume you use the DMX model even though this is now more geared towards moving heads?

Yes use the DMX model, I've been asking Gil on the xLights forum to add floods, but so far no luck.

in Layout:
DMX Style: Moving Head Side
# Channels: 7 ( set DMX on flood to d00x )
Red: 2
Green: 3
Blue: 4

In the Sequencer:
Add a DMX effect
in Effect Settings:
Ch 1: 0-255 Intensity (brightness)
Ch 2: 0-255 Red
Ch 3: 0-255 Green
Ch 4: 0-255 Blue
Ch 5: 0-255 Stobe (flashing/blinking - higher number = faster)

Don't use Ch 6 or 7

Cheers Oz!
Note to self (and others watching) - make sure you adjust the size of the universe channels on your DMX output of your controller when you add more fixtures ;)

Dusting off this older thread - how are you all planning on powering these? They look to be 12v from the included AC adapter, so does this mean they can run from a 12v PSU? Anyone hacked them to do this and care to share how?
I might use mine as uplighting across the front of my house, but don't want 3-4 240v leads running around everywhere to power these

Yeah, the LED Driver (transformer they come with) is 12V DC 2A so should be no problem running several off a 12V PSU.

Haven't done it, but would be easy to run a cable into the device and solder to where existing power cables go.

I was waiting on my F16V3 to play with these, and here's my report.
- As Brad mentioned previously, the signal +/- are reversed.
- Having had them working on my DMX console I finally got around to checking it out. Sure enough my console had a polarity swapping switch enabled.
- SO, since I am ambitiously lazy (read-"will find the easiest solution") and that I don't have anything else using XLR plugs, and already having plenty of connecting leads, my solution was to make a RJ45/XLR patch lead with polarity swapped (and marked accordingly). In this way, no modifications were needed to all of the lights.

For the life of me I could not get these working on the new F16V3. I pulled out my old J1SYS DMX/Ren8 and they fired up straight away.
Here is the test video:

Hi,
I swapped the black / white wire as indicated in the earlier post.
Also bought an XLR to RJ45 converter thingy - also as per one of the posts here.

Set the controller to A001
I then took a normal out of the box Cat cable and connected one of the Pixlite-16 DMX outputs to the RJ45 input of the controller , but could not get xlights (channel 1 -3 set up as DMX) to work.

Is the connection correct or am I missing something . Does the CAT cable have to be modified as well (much poring over the Wiki and I cant tell)

(I know that the Pixlet connection / definitions are fine , cause I normally use the same output and channels for Singing faces. via a Ray Wu 27ch.)

BTW - all the lights of the floodlight come on and kind of blink a bit

thanks

Hi Gerry, not sure what the issue may be. Did this issue occur for all the floods you bought (or did you only buy the one?)

I bought two and tried both with the same results. However if there is nothing obviously incorrect/lacking in what I have done so far, then I will pursue further and swap cabling ports etc etc.

So would it be possible to use CAT5/6 cable to carry both dmx data and 12v power for these lights? Is each strand within the cable thick enough for power or can you double up some cores within? If anyone has a pic to share I'd be very appreciative :)

I found the other night that my lights did not work with xlights despite having them work previously. The lights themselves indicated they were receiving signal (small dot flashing on led display)
So I changed my universe settings in xlights and falcon controller to universe 1. Then they worked fine. I then changed it back to the universe I originally had them set on and they worked again, and still do. Keith was curious as to why this was the case, so maybe try that too and let us know if that works.
